21 octobre ~Old Dogs~Over a lifetime, if one has pets, sooner or later, like everything else, they die. Sometimes, we have to have them "put to sleep" in the belief that it is more kind than allowing them to continue suffering.
Like everyone else I know, this has happened a few times at our house and each time gets a little more depressing - as we grow older, perhaps, we are just becoming more aware of our own mortality and the message hits a bit closer to home.
After the last time, when we had to put another pet to sleep, the wife and I agreed that there would be no more pets in the Yeck household.
Fortunately, she kept me anyway (& hasn't had me put to sleep) !!
